The set menu has been developed by Brighton based chef Jethro Carr, in collaboration with the stories we will be telling at Ground. Read the full menu here.

What drinks options are there?

The Ground wine flight features an exclusive selection of wines from the Sussex-based Bolney Estate, with each one having been professionally paired to the menu by our sommelier.

The wine flight includes: Estate Chardonnay 2021, Estate Pinot Noir 2022, and Rosso English Vermouth.

For guests who haven’t purchased the wine flight in advance, there will be house wines available by the glass. These are Lychgate White 2022 and Lychgate Red 2020. Unbarred Pale Ale is also available, as well as Stanmer Organics apple juice and a variety of soft drinks. Read the full drinks menu here.

Can I buy drinks using cash?

We will be using a cashless bar for our drinks sales. Please come prepared with a card or Apple/Google Pay.

What if I have dietary requirements?

You will receive an email from Brighton Festival a few days in advance of your visit to Ground. In this there will be instructions on how to let us know about dietary requirements – please send these to us as soon as possible.

The Show

What should I bring with me?

Torch: staff will guide you from Patchway Car Park to the Earthship, but we recommend bringing a torch if you are coming to an evening show, as the ground can be uneven at times.

Warm clothes: Ground is taking place in a stretch tent on the grounds of The Earthship. You will be sheltered, but we recommend you wear warm clothes or bring an extra layer just in case.

Money: We will be using a cashless bar for our drinks sales. Please come prepared with a card or Apple/Google Pay.

What shouldn’t I bring with me?

Luggage: Please be mindful of our limited space and the walk to and from Earthship. We do not allow large bags or suitcases, and we do not have a cloakroom facility.

Dogs: Dogs are not permitted, except assistance dogs as above.

Drinks: We will have a bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks so please do not bring your own food or drink to this performance.

Can I sit with my friends?

Due to the layout of this event we can’t guarantee that you’ll be sitting with everyone in your group. We encourage you to share a table and conversation with people new to you if you can- but please speak to one of our staff when you arrive if you have any questions or access requirements around this.

Can I take photos/film the show?

We want audiences to be as immersed in the show and meal as possible. As such, please refrain from taking photos or videos, or going on your phone.

Can I talk to my friends during the show?

Yes! Ground is all about encouraging enlightening and sometimes uncomfortable discussions. We encourage guests to discuss the stories they are being told over their meal.

Is there an interval?

There is no formal interval, but there will be breaks in the storytelling for you to eat your food and speak with the other guests at your table.

Is it outdoors?

The performance takes places within a marquee and so will carry on in most weather unless unsafe to do so. It will not be cancelled for cold or rainy days so please come prepared!
